Is the Audi Q7 a Good SUV?

The Audi Q7 is a great pick if you’re shopping for a luxury midsize SUV. It has a capable base engine and a thrilling optional V6, both of which deliver good fuel economy. It’s fun to drive for a vehicle of its size. Better still, the cabin is trimmed with quality materials, and the infotainment system is user-friendly. The third row is a bit snug for adults, but there’s still plenty of seating space in the first two rows.

We named the Q7 our 2019 Best Luxury 3-Row SUV for Families because of its superior combination of cargo and passenger space, safety and reliability ratings, positive reviews from automotive journalists, and available family-friendly features.

Should I Buy the Audi Q7?

You should definitely consider the Q7. It’s not only a good SUV, but it’s also a good value, thanks to its many convenience features, standard all-wheel drive, and three rows of seats. That said, there are other compelling three-row SUVs in this segment too, like the Acura MDX, Lexus RX 350L, and the redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLE. Test-drive all four models to see which you prefer.

Should I Buy a New or Used Audi Q7?

Audi fully redesigned the Q7 for the 2017 model year. Aside from proximity key entry becoming standard for 2018, there have been few major changes in this generation. To get the most bang for your buck, you may want to shop for a 2017 Q7. It will cost a lot less than a new Q7 and have many of the same attributes. Audi put the Q7 on hold for the 2016 model year before the redesign, so the last model year of the prior generation is the 2015 Q7. Those models should be significantly cheaper than a new one, but they’re also vastly different.

How Much Does the Audi Q7 Cost?

The 2019 Audi Q7 has a slightly above-average starting price for a luxury midsize SUV. The Q7 Premium ($53,550) and Premium Plus ($56,900) come standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and equipping them with an optional supercharged V6 raises the starting price by $6,400. The range-topping Q7 Prestige only comes with the V6 and costs $68,700. Adding most major options to the Q7’s highest trim pushes its price to more than $92,000.

If you don’t need an SUV with three rows, you may want to consider the smaller Audi Q5, which has five seats and carries a lower $43,000 starting price.
